From the Pastor’s Desk:
The will of God is in Christ
It is preeminent in the mind of God that His will be the top priority in your life.
John 15:1-8 (NKJV) 1 "I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.
2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.
3 You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.
4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
5 I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
6 If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.
Jesus says He is the true vine and that His Father is the vinedresser. He goes on to say that we are the branches. It is very evident from the start that it is God’s desire that His “will” be carried out in our lives. Notice that Jesus is the vine. The Father does nothing to the vine because the vine is true and is the life source for the branches. All of the Father’s work is to the branches. We are the branches and our life comes from the vine.
Jesus said in Matt. 7.21 -that not everyone who said Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Hebrews 10:5-10 states that Jesus came only to do the “will” of his Father. The Father’s “will” was His delight. We must see that the “will of God” is in Christ. The only way we can do his “will” is by abiding in Christ and his word abiding in us. We must be sanctified (cleansed) by the word of God. Our life must line up with the “Word of God”. This causes us to bear fruit pleasing to God and brings joy and fulfillment to our lives. His “will” should be our delight!
